First things first, find a sturdy pot- one that is quite deep with good drainage. Jade plants tend to get top heavy and eventually fall over and they are susceptible to root rot. Don't water right after transplanting, wait at least 3 days to let the roots settle and recover.

Jades are long lived house plants and can live through generations if given the right care.

Growing Conditions.

  • Bright indirect sunlight.

  • Room Temperature during the day and slightly cooler at night

  • Water jade plants thoroughly- Not just the surface and then wait until it has mostly dried out before watering again.

  • Goes dormant in the winter months (pause growth)- so it won't need as much water.

  • Avoid splashing water on its leaves.

  • Distilled water is best- they dislike the salts in tap water.

If your jade plant is getting brown spots on the leaves- then you need to water, it more.

If the leaves are getting squishy, then you're watering it too much.

Fertilize only once per growing season with a fertilizer that is specific to cacti and succulents.

Propagating a jade is quite easy and almost always successful.

Theres 2 ways to propagate a jade - stem cuttings and leaf cuttings.

Take a healthy stem and let it callous for 2-3 days and then plant it in well-drained soil.

Take a healthy leaf, let it callous and then plant in well-drained soil.

Propagating from a stem cutting is much faster.
